The City We Know We Can Be.

New York Cares is the largest volunteer network in NYC, focusing on relieving food insecurity, providing educational resources to students, and revitalizing the city’s parks. With the power of 20,000+ volunteers, corporate partners (like Morgan Stanley and the Mets), and 400+ community partners, we served over 80,000 New Yorkers in 2022.

After joining as the creative lead in February 2022, my goal was to modernize the organization’s visual identity after 36 years of service and highlight our impact to mobilize more volunteers and donors. In February 2024, we launched our new brand identity, so the following projects include a mix of old and new branding.

Email Marketing

Following our rebrand in February 2024, I redesigned our external email templates that go out to all volunteers, team leaders, and donors on Mailchimp. For our staff, I wanted to create templates were versatile in sections and layouts so they could easily drag and drop new content and remove any sections they didn’t for a particular email. For our audience, I wanted our newsletter to be an easy and quick read to engage individuals of different age groups.

Annual Report

To showcase our impact during the most recent fiscal year, we put together a report consisting of our best highlights, stories, and partnerships.

Stand with Students

Our annual campaign that provides NYC public school students with academic, social-emotional, and supplemental programs that address learning gaps and historic inequities. Events below include packing backpacks with school supplies at Salvation Army, backpack distributions, book fairs, and field days.

Revitalization

One of our most important impact areas is to clean up and replenish public spaces and schools across the five boroughs. Below are photos of revitalization projects at Moshulu Park in the Bronx, a school in Brooklyn, and one of the medians along Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Blvd.

9/11 Day of Service

Partnering with 9/11 Day of Service, we recruited hundreds of corporate volunteers to pack over 1 million meal kits at the Intrepid Museum.
